School Board Candidate Profile: Daniel J. McGinley

Name: Daniel J. McGinley

Education: LaSalle College graduate with a masters degree in education from Temple University. 

Number of years lived in Ocean City: Has lived on Ocean City year-round for the past nine years with his wife, Jane. Prior to that, he spent 43 years as a summer resident.

Family in school system: Daniel is the proud father of eight children and grandfather to 27. He has one granddaughter and one grandson at Ocean City HIgh School. All eight of his children are college graduates and five are full-time educators. Two of his daughters are teachers and he has three children that are school superintendents in South Carolina, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Occupation: McGinley has spent his entire career in public service, first as an officer in the U.S. Navy, then as a teacher, principal and union president of the Philadelphia Association of School Administrators. He is certified as a teacher, principal and superintendent.
