On the article Christie Underwent Weight Loss Surgery In February

Maybe the governors weight is a sign of someone who is not in control. He cant control property taxes, the flow of people out of the state, and he would not reject the Obamacare exchanges. As for his surgery - seems like he went to a lot of trouble to hide it. Did he go out of state because he was doctor shopping for a doctor who would sign off on this as a 'medical necessity' so it would be covered by insurance? Because there are other weight loss ways - diet and exercise - that are less of a medical risk and gastic surgery is usuallly considered elective (like cosmetic surgery) and not covered by insurance unless you can get a doctor who will say it is medically necessary.

Reply@Silver - I do shop downtown but I usually go knowing what I want to buy and what stores I want to stop at. I dont really take time to browse because like I said, it is hard to relax when you are always wondering if the meter is running out - things like trying on clothes or going out to lunch are not fun when you have to worry that it might cost you a ticket.
But it seems like the city and the merchants are at odds a lot instead of working together and the merchants suffer for it which is a shame because we do have some really nice stores downtown. -

I agree but maybe that starts with dumping him in the primary and electing a candidate who is smart about NJ taxpayers money. I have been reading Seth Grossmans web site and like him more and more. Plus he is from south Jersey and we need to stop thinking about what works for up north and start taking care of below exit 100.

ReplySomething about raising parking fees to buy meters that will now be set to the higher parking fees and putting it down to the convenience of using a credit card sounds a little messed up. Do people really put the cost of a meter on a credit card? And are so many people stuck for change that they do it often enough to justify buying all these new meters?
The problem with meters is that they are an accepted nuisance if you are running a few errands, but it is hard to enjoy a shopping trip downtown or a nice lunch with friends if you always have to think if the meter is running down. Maybe the city makes money off the tickets they write but it seems like the downtown merchants are the ones who suffer. -

@Jeff - The Klan were Democrats, too which may be more relevant to what the organization was than what church their members went to. They were also anti Catholic and anti Jewish.

ReplyComcast spends a lot of money on mailings and TV ads but service is king. Nobody who has a choice would choose Comcast.

ReplyMaybe if money wasnt spent on this it would be there for beach replenishment. It is in a spot that makes for an awkward pull in and out onto the bridge and about a quarter mile further is the perfectly good Roy Gillian Welcome center in a small strip with some parking - need more parking there is an empty lot across the street that could be paved over. There was nothing at all wrong with the welcome center on 9th St near Haven.

I agree that Christie may not be as secure as he thinks he is. My only worry is that we will find ourselves with another free spending governor in his place. It seems like we have been stuck with a string of liberal spenders from the other Christie - Todd Whitman - to this one. Doesnt matter if they have a D or R after them if they cant take care of our money, are taxing people out of the state and made us a state that is hard to do business with unless you are some company here to film episodes of Jersey Shore or Cake Boss - they are hurting the citizens of NJ. We can all talk about where we agree or disagree on the 'social issues' but when it comes to our money, we need a governor who can stop the waste that is draining this state.

ReplyI am starting to take a good look at Seth Grossman. Heard him on the radio a couple times. He must have memorized the NJ state constitution because he can talk about any issue in terms of if it is in keeping with the constitution. I never heard another NJ politician who could do that. Plus more and more I am getting skeptical of incumbents because they just seem to get too comfortable or use their office as a stepping stone instead of to serve their constituents.
