On the article Return to Popcorn Park a 'Sad Day' for Black Lab Mix

ReplyPopcorn Park's statement continued:
When this man (an older gentleman) adopted Errol, we all met him, screened him, watched him interact with Errol, that sort of thing. He was retired and actually said that Errol would be his constant companion and new best friend. He would take him to the beach, park, walks daily, etc. They hit it off perfectly and we thought it was a dream come true for Errol.
When he returned Errol last week, he was like a different person. He was very frustrated because Errol had chewed on a kitchen chair. When he scolded Errol for it, Errol jumped on top of the chair and started chewing that. He said that was the last straw, so he brought him back. We were shocked at his comments and how rude he was. People appear to be the perfect pet owners when they're right here in front of us but once they walk out that door, we can only hope for the best. -

ReplyThe purpose of this story is to help find Errol a good home. I received feedback from Popcorn Park on their adoption procedures. Here is their statement:
We have a very thorough adoption and screening process. We require that potential adopters come in a couple of times to meet the pet, to ensure that the adoptee and the family are a good fit together. Our adoption manager has 30 years of experience in adoptions and our return rate is extremely low. We would rather keep a dog or cat for a year or two while they wait out the right home, then adopt them out to the wrong home. Our requirements besides the in-person meeting are only our application, proof of home ownership or if renting, the permission to own a pet, and vet records for pets that they've had in the last 5 years. Our fee includes spay/neuter, microchipping, all vaccines, health certificate and guarantee.

Jason, before each primary election, I do a profile on each candidate. The profiles unveil the candidate's background, goals and vision for the township.

Carrie, the school district could not yet say what the increase would cost the average homeowner because the township is still working on its assessments. We'll hopefully have that figure soon.

ReplyIf Lacey Township Schools have a delayed opening on Thursday, HSPA testing will not take place. All students will report to LTHS as expected, when there's a delayed opening. State Testing will be rescheduled for Friday, March 8 and the half-day testing schedule for our testing and non-testing students will take place. Day three of HSPA testing will run as scheduled unless there is a delayed opening on Thursday.

The spokesperson for the county informed me that the county receives CDBG money for various programs such as housing and municipal projects every year. Most of the money received this year is not related to the storm. Also, these funds are in no way related to the $1.8 billion in storm aid that will be distrbuted by the state.
