Provisional Ballots Do Not Change Outcome of School Board Election

Tom Oves, Jacqueline McAlister and Jim Bauer win three-year terms on the Ocean City Board of Education.

An updated count of votes that includes provisional ballots shows no change in the outcome of the local Ocean City Board of Education election. Ocean City voters returned two incumbents to the local Board of Education and picked one newcomer. Jim Bauer won his seventh three-year term on the board, and Tom Oves was re-elected for his second. Jacqueline McAlister finished second in voting to win her first term. Voters picked from four candidates to fill three full three-year terms on the board. Two Incumbents and First-Time Candidate Win School Board Seats

Voers elect Tom Oves, Jim Bauer and Jacqueline McAlister to the Board of Education.

Ocean City voters returned two incumbents to the local Board of Education and picked one newcomer. Jim Bauer won his seventh three-year term on the board, and Tom Oves was re-elected for his second. Jacqueline McAlister finished second in voting to win her first term. Incumbent Pete Madden failed in his bid for a second term. Ocean City Goes to Polls Tuesday for General Election

Election will decide seats from local Board of Education to president of the United States.

Ocean City voters will go to the polls on Tuesday to select candidates for offices from the local Board of Education to the president of the United States. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6., at these locations. Check for election process changes in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. In the Nov. 6 election, four candidates are vying for three seats on the Ocean City Board of Education.

For the first time, Ocean City voters will go to the polls in a November general election to choose Board of Education representatives. School elections have traditionally been held in April, but a statewide bill signed in January allowed school districts to move elections from April to November to save money and potentially increase voter turnout. The polls for the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6, will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and polling places are as follows (numbers indicate ward-district): Voters from Ward 1, District 1 who normally vote at the Ocean City Yacht Club will vote at St. Frances Cabrini Church due to flooding at the Yacht Club after Hurricane Sandy.
