Congratulations to the Ocean City Intermediate School wrestlers who placed at the Cape-Atlantic Middle School Tournament on Feb 12 at Ocean City High School: 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place Seven wrestlers competed and six (6) took home medals. First place puts them on an ALL-STAR team that will wrestle the Tri-County All Stars on March 14 at Overbrook High School.

Ocean City's youth wrestling tournament is now in its third year.
While high school wrestlers were fighting their way to state championships on Sunday in Atlantic City, wrestlers from kindergarten through eighth grade from four different states were competing at Ocean City's annual tournament held at Ocean City High School. Blake Gorsky, a seventh-grader from Ocean City, has wrestled competitively since kindergarten. He fought his way into the championship match on Sunday, and ended up taking second place. He was dominating the match at first, leading 9-0, when he was finally pinned. Gorsky, who at age 12 already plans to wrestle in high school and hopes to wrestle in college, has become a mentor for many of the younger wrestlers in Ocean City's program. Dan Pettit, Coley O'Brien, Lucas Pearson and Anthony DeSantis are competing in the Region 8 Wrestling Tournament.
Dan Pettit doesn't mind wrestling Williamstown's C.J. Cobb, but he rather wait until the finals. It's the main reason why the Ocean City High School senior didn't mind being the No. 7 seed in Friday night's Region 8 Wrestling Tournament quarterfinals at Egg Harbor Township. The Red Raiders senior completely controlled his 145-pound match to defeat No. 2 seed George Skibinski of Pennsville, 9-4, to advance to Saturday's semifinals. "To the people it did (seem like an upset), but in my head I knew I had that match," Pettit said. "But I guess to the people it was an upset." Wrestlers one win away from regions.
The Ocean City High School wrestling team will be well-represented in the District 32 Wrestling Tournament semifinals on Saturday. The Red Raiders advances seven wrestlers in the tournament, hosted by Absegami High School in Galloway Township. The top-three finishers in each weight class move on to next week's Region 8 Tournament. The Red Raiders' Coley O'Brien is two wins away from winning his fourth straight district championship. The Ocean City senior, who is seeded No. 2 at 125 pounds, recorded a 15-0 technical fall over No. 7 seed Brendan Tighe of Middle Township.
