Ocean City Police Assist in Crack Cocaine Arrest

A Wildwood man is accused of distributing crack cocaine.

The Ocean City Police Department assisted in the Tuesday arrest of a 66-year-old Wildwood man on charges of distributing crack cocaine. A joint narcotics investigation by the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and police departments in Ocean City and Wildwood resulted in the arrest of Walter Aubrey and the seizing of 80 bags of suspected crack cocaine worth more than $4,000. Aubrey's car was also seized and may be forfeited. Aubrey is being held in the Cape May County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash bail.  He is charged with possession of cocaine, distribution of cocaine and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone. Drop Off Unwanted Prescription Medicines on Saturday

A drive-up location in front of the Ocean City Municipal airport will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Ocean City residents are invited to drop off unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications at a drive-up location on Saturday. The event will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Ocean City Municipal Airport at 26th Street and Bay Avenue. The event is part of the statewide Operation Take Back, which includes more than 250 police departments. The effort is spearheaded by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency as a way to curb abuse of prescription drugs. More information is available at http://www.operationtakebacknj.com.

'Coffee With Cops' Set for Tuesday

The morning event takes place at the new Sunrise Cafe at 949 Asbury Avenue.

The Ocean City Police Department invites anybody to come out April 23 for "Coffee with Cops." The event takes place 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday (April 23) at the new Sunrise Cafe at 949 Asbury Avenue. Citizens are invited to meet with officers and discuss concerns and ask questions related to police work in Ocean City.  Anyone with questions, can speak with Ptl. Former Cop Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges

Ocean City beach tag inspection supervisor Charles Cusack was indicted on March 26, nearly eight months after his arrest.

A former Ocean City police officer has been indicted on charges of sexual assault on a minor, according to Ken Super, chief county detective for the Cape May Prosecutor's Office. Charles Cusack, age 49 at the time of his arrest, had been charged with one count of second degree sexual contact of a juvenile under the age of 18, Super said. According to the indictment, the alleged acts took place on or about diverse dates between July 14 and Aug. 4, 2012. Cusack was arrested on Aug. 6, 2012. The water company pays for an officer to be posted at any hydrants that are being used by contractors as part of there security protocol and to prevent theft which was a common problem. The city is paid for the use of the officer at the hydrant. The officer assigned is working on his or her day off to eliminate wasting an officer working there normal shift from sitting at a hydrant.   more ›
