Downtown Asbury Avenue remained a construction zone on Thursday as a collection of contractors worked to get flood-damaged businesses open in time for a weekend shopping promotion. Ocean City’s fourth annual Earlier Than the Bird Shopping Extravaganza will run from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 17. The record flooding from Hurricane Sandy on Oct. 29 left downtown merchants with two feet of water in their stores and forced most of them to replace floors, walls and merchandise.
