Christie Reschedules Ocean City Stop for 2:30 p.m. Friday

The governor will continue a series of talks on protecting beaches with an Aug. 12 appearance in Ocean City.

Gov. Chris Christie will highlight what his administration calls "his continued commitment to and strong record of protecting the state’s renowned beaches and 130 miles of coastline" during an appearance in front of the Ocean City Music Pier at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12. Christie had been scheduled to speak on Tuesday, Aug. 9, but the event was cancelled by inclement weather. The Governor's Office announced the rescheduled stop on Thursday afternoon. The public is invited to listen to Christie speak, and he will follow his talk with a walk on the beach and Boardwalk, according to the Governor's Office. Christie Cancels Tuesday's Ocean City Appearance

The governor may reschedule a talk on clean beaches and waterways for Friday.

Gov. Chris Christie's scheduled 4 p.m. appearance today (Aug. 9) on the Ocean City Boardwalk has been canceled due to the threat of bad weather. A release from the Governor's Office said the appearance will be rescheduled at an unspecified future date, but the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce said in a 3 p.m. news release that the event has been rescheduled tentatively for Friday. At 3 p.m. in Ocean City, skies were overcast but no rain was falling. It rained lightly earlier in the afternoon. But a "special weather statement" released by the National Weather Service at 3:24 p.m. warned of a line of strong thunderstorms moving across southern New Jersey toward Ocean City and nearby towns.
