The message from the schools automated system indicated the decision may be rescinded, if so, callsRead More would go out in the morning.
Douglas Bergen (Editor) January 21, 2014 at 08:43 pm
MDBJ, I just updated the story to clarify: the school day will start late or not at all. See above.

The schools are now closed today- see channel 40 web site!

look on the bright side, at least you wont be able to see the mud in the lagoons when the tide goesRead More out. :)
Frozen batteries, radiators and car doors provided a challenge on Tuesday morning.

Looks like the fire was on the 3400 ocean side block not the 3500.
Matt Bechta January 14, 2014 at 06:53 am
I comment the timely and courteous service that fire captain Meyers and others performed last weekRead More in shutting off the water supply to homes whose water supply lines froze. The call was above and beyond the call of duty.

Does anyone know if there was any flooding on the south end of the island? I'm looking at 48th andRead More West on the Bay side. We lest on the 1st. Not sure if we had flooding.
Bob January 4, 2014 at 11:15 am
Jcronk49, of course it was flooded there. Anything west of West Ave from 35th to 52nd St. is onlyRead More but a couple feet at most above sea level. It floods there at every full moon as well and any time you get a steady NE wind. There is a reason the first floor of any house built after about 1971 sits 10ft off the ground...

You can get a permit to drive on the beach off season. Hopefully the ice on the roads will melt offRead More soon. Apparently the Longport bridge was snow covered last night. Someone told me they lost control coming off the bridge and almost crashed into the toll booth. Frank I don't want to hear it. Its colder than a $%$&%& $%^ here.
Jim Houck January 3, 2014 at 11:38 am
Ya really gotta love people who complain about all roads not being plowed by 10:00 AM on a day onRead More which the snow didn't actually end until after 8:00 AM & winds are blasting. Geez !
Mr. B January 3, 2014 at 01:32 pm
I must say, I just had to go out again, from battersea to Acme and it looks like to me every streetRead More has been cleared. Not sure what the complaints are, I'll say it again, great job Ocean City.
CleanOC January 3, 2014 at 06:57 pm
I think they did and are doing a great job.
Joe S. November 11, 2013 at 08:29 am
To all our Vets: Thank You for all your service. You have sacrificed more than most could even dreamRead More about. You're what makes this country great. You are what allows us to live in freedom. God bless you all.
Pat November 1, 2013 at 05:26 pm
Real smart......close the toll free way into Ocean City on a Saturday morning. Lets inconvenienceRead More people coming in for a race of all reasons. Suspend all tolls on the other entrances to Ocean City during this time or better yet....let the City of OC reimburse you for the toll you had to pay.
CTA November 1, 2013 at 08:37 pm
Where have you been? This event has been held for years.....everyone knows its on the schedule,Read More what's the problem?
rjo1136 November 2, 2013 at 07:31 am
This is a good event for Somers Point and Ocean City---in answer to the closing to "the"Read More toll free entrance to OC, the 34th Street Bridge is toll free.
Eleanor October 14, 2013 at 03:40 pm
For the record and for the editors of The Patch. By now, everyone knows that the termRead More "teabagger" and variations of it are a vulgar sexual term. People who first used it unknowingly like Anderson Cooper apologized and have since stopped but it seems that some people are determined to be very vulgar. I am all for free speech, but I am sure that this site is often viewed by middle school and high school students - for their sake at least, can you keep it clean?
CTA October 14, 2013 at 05:08 pm
Excuse me Eleanor , I was referring to the GOP sub-party of the GOP who seem to generally no clue.Read More I did not mean to offend. However, if you read the real history of that Columbus fellow you will redefine vulgar.
Patches O'Houlihan October 14, 2013 at 05:23 pm
Again race is used to muddle the waters of discussion. Easy to pick out establishment followers ofRead More Left and Right. If a discussion about government spending turns into accusations of racism you figure out what is going on. Fear is a powerful political tool.
Adam Young October 13, 2013 at 01:07 am
Wasn't there a report that an older woman drove her car in the bay at the start of the this event?Read More That's certainly an auspicious way to start a block party.
Oceancity Resident October 13, 2013 at 09:13 am
Na, that was at a rager they held at the Yacht Club.
Jeffrey Watt October 15, 2013 at 08:18 am
The event was a lot of fun! Good food and a lot of nice things that were not made in China! MyRead More Christmas shopping is done! The only losers were the crafters that didn't show because people were spending money.
Vomit Man October 11, 2013 at 05:19 pm
Yup.....great forecast for a "Fall Block Party Festival," huh? One economic disaster,Read More coming up! (LOL!!!)
Salt water sits on both sides of the bayside bulkhead at 15th Street on Wednesday (Oct. 9).
Jeffrey Watt October 10, 2013 at 04:31 pm
The Block Party is rain or shine. Been there many times in rain, wind and the cold.
Eric Sauder October 10, 2013 at 04:58 pm

Wyatt is old Mr. B. Don't know him personally but from this readers viewpoint he sounds like a veryRead More old, angry, crochiety and angry man in all of his posts. Perhaps Wyatt needs to move to his own private town.
Wyatt July 23, 2013 at 12:40 pm
I am a shoobie so not intending to belittle us. My comments are for the lOCals to consider, mostRead More of whom just ignore us. Those who do not usually make it pretty clear they wish we weren't here causing crowds, noise, etc. and detracting from their lifestyle enjoyed the other 10 months of the year. Although I'm sure thr lOCals in business here like the way we make the cash registers ring so they can really enjoy those other 10 months. And isn't it against an OC ordinance for lOCal businesses to use words like "complimentary", "free", "discount", etc. during July and August?
Mr. B July 23, 2013 at 01:09 pm
seems to me the only one bitching and moaning is you. maybe take a good look in the mirror andRead More brighten up your attitude. And, no, it is not an ordinance to not allow the use of them words. ( I understand you are being sarcastic, but your ignorance leads to me pointing out your dumb sarcasm)
