Amnesty International Hosts Forum on 'Persecuted Christians'

The Saturday (Dec. 7) event in Ocean City helps mark International Human Rights Day.

Amnesty International will sponsor a forum on “Persecuted Christians — Freedom of Religion” 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Ocean City.

In commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Stockton professors Melaku Lakew from Ethiopia and Monir Sharobeam from Egypt will outline the history of Christianity in their home countries and the Middle East. They will discuss persecution of Christians in this region of the world.

The local Amnesty International group holds a special event every year in December to commemorate International Human Rights Day (Dec. 10 this year).

Holy Trinity is at 2998 Bay Avenue. Everyone is welcome, and donations are appreciated. For more information, call 609-398-9330 or email shanleyg2001@yahoo.com.
