Ocean City Week: Nice Weather, Boardwalk Art Show, Leon Russell

To all you fellow lovers of summer, we offer the following sobering reminder: August start on Thursday. Where does the time go?

But one piece of good news: The weather looks as if it will cooperate with all things fun this week.

The forecast calls for high temperatures in the mid-80s for most of the week, and there should be plenty of sunshine to go around. The ocean water temperature was a comfortable 74 degrees on Sunday. It's been bouncing around all summer, but there's a good chance the warm water will stick around.

Here are some things to look for this week:

(July 29) LEON RUSSELL, American Singer-Songwriter legend began playing piano at the age of four. Worked as pianist for BB King, Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Eric Clapton. By 1970 hit it big as a solo artist with his own brand and style of music and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. (July 30) The Ocean City Pops presents I LOVE THE 80's, 8 p.m. at Music Pier with the best of Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, David Bowie and others. (July 31)  SUMMER PUPPET SHOW presented by the Ocean City Theatre Co. Children from 3rd to 8th grade will have the opportunity to build their own puppets that will be featured in a special performance. Children will be able to work with award winning artist Peggy Fotusky on their puppets. 7:30 p.m. at the Moorlyn Family Theatre, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. (Aug. 2-4) 51st ANNUAL BOARDWALK ART SHOW: An Ocean City Tradition for decades featuring leading artists from throughout the East Coast. This event was started by James F. Penland, the late, legendary Ocean City artist and business man, Dr. Marcia Smith, Mayor B. Thomas Waldman and a dedicated committee.
