Ocean City Pops to Help Peggy Lloyd Celebrate 100th Birthday

A special concert Tuesday (Sept. 10) will honor the Ocean City philanthropist.

A special Ocean City Pops concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Ocean City Music Pier will celebrate the life and 100th birthday of Ocean City resident Margaret "Peggy" Lloyd.

The concert will feature the Pops orchestra, along with young prodigy violinist Joseph Hsai, soprano Chloe Moore and baritone Steven LaBrie.

At 8:30 p.m., a birthday cake with 100 candles will be brought to the Music Pier stage, and the audience will join in singing Happy Birthday to Lloyd, who turns 100 that very day.

Lloyd has served on the board of directors for the Ocean City Pops, the Ocean City Arts Center and the Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center, and she has been a generous donor to each of the organizations.

In March, Lloyd made the largest donation ever received by the Ocean City Community Center Association. She asked that the exact amount of the contribution not be disclosed, and she asked that the money be dedicated to the pool at the Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center.
