Arctic Cold on Its Way Back to Ocean City
Single digit wind chills will arrive by Tuesday (Jan. 21).
The coldest day of the year (on average in southern New Jersey) is Jan. 24, and true to form, an arctic cold front will have settled in over the region by next Friday.
A National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook warns that a "bitterly cold airmass" will arrive Tuesday and bring a combination of cold temperatures and wind that could result in wind-chill values in the single digits.
The cold front will bring high temperatures in the 20s and lows in the teens and single digits starting on Tuesday. Early forecasts for precipitation on Thursday or Friday bring the potential of snow.
Before the arrival of the arctic air, Martin Luther King Day on Monday (Jan. 20) will see sun and a high near 42 degrees.
The ocean water temperature was 40.3 degrees on Friday.
