Stranding Center Seeks Volunteers for Training

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center will hold a class for volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Stone Harbor.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center of Brigantine covers the entire coastline of New Jersey (including the Delaware Bay shore) in its mission to respond to marine mammals and sea turtles in distress.

The nonprofit organization is looking to enhance its network of volunteers who are able to respond quickly to the report of an animal in distress.

The Stranding Center will conduct training for volunteers 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor.

The only prerequisite is for potential volunteers to live near enough to a New Jersey beach to be able to respond quickly.

Anybody interested is asked to call the Stranding Center at 609-266-0538.
