Spring Beach Sweep and Dune Grass Planting Set for Weekend

Ocean City provides two opportunities to volunteer on Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22.

The Ocean City Environmental Commission and Clean Communities Organization are hosting two events to celebrate Earth Day weekend, April 21 and 22.

The first event is the 27th Annual Clean Ocean Action Spring Beach Sweep, which will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All residents, students, organizations and families are encouraged to take part in the semiannual “counted cleanup” sweep along the beaches in Ocean City. 

Clean Ocean Action uses data cards to record the litter collected and enters the information into a national database of marine debris. Volunteers should register at the , located at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk to receive their cleanup supplies and sweep location.

On Sunday, April 22, the Ocean City Environmental Commission and Clean Communities groups will hold a dune-grass planting event from noon to 3p.m. at the Fifth Street Beach.  Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at noon when they will receive information regarding Ocean City’s dune systems, issued dune grass seedlings and planting equipment. All Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
