Ocean City Schools Cancel Classes on Wednesday

Ocean City can expect sub-zero wind chills on Wednesday.

The Ocean City School District announced Wednesday morning that classes will be canceled today as the island wakes up to windswept snow and arctic cold.

The district had announced a two-hour delay on Tuesday evening.

The coastal region of southern New Jersey escaped the worst of the snowfall — with 2 to 4 inches accumulating over most of the region, while areas along the I-95 corridor saw more than a foot.

Forecasters had predicted 4 to 8 inches for Ocean City.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The forecast calls for a high temperature of 16 degrees with wind chill values as low as -6. Northwest winds at 18 to 22 mph will continue through the day.
