OCBP to Protect 10 Beaches This Week

The Ocean City Beach Patrol will provide lifeguards at 10 beaches through Sept. 9.

With a and dangerous currents to Ocean City this week, the city is reminding visitors that the Ocean City Beach Patrol will provide lifeguards at only 10 beaches this week.

The OCBP patrols 43 beaches through the height of summer, but patrols are reduced after Labor Day. All bathers are reminded to swim at only protected beaches. September is one of the most common months for drownings in southern New Jersey as a dangerous mix of warm water, unprotected beaches and heavy surf often exists.

The following beaches will be patrolled by lifeguards through Sunday, Sept. 9:

  • Stenton Place
  • St. Charles Place
  • Brighton Place
  • 8th Street
  • 9th Street
  • 10th Street
  • 11th Street
  • 12th Street
  • 34th Street
  • 58th Street

Beaches will be patrolled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
