Cooper Gallagher advanced to the quarterfinals of the 182-pound state tournament.

An Ocean City High School wrestler continued his quest for a state title Friday night, while the boys basketball team's hopes for an unlikely championship came to an end.

Cooper Gallagher advanced to the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA 182-pound state wrestling tournament at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on Friday night with a 3-0 decision over Vinnie Maniero, of St. Joseph (Montvale), according to nj.com.

Gallagher faces Brick Memorial's Nicholas Costa in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Gallagher won the District 32 and Region 8 titles for the first time this year.

Despite 34 points from Griffin Grimes, the boys basketball team fell to Delsea, 90-73, in the semifinals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs, according to nj.com.

The second-seeded Crusaders held a four-point lead over the No. 14 Red Raiders after one quarter, but expanded that lead with an 18-6 third quarter.

Ocean City advanced to the semifinals with upset wins over No.3 Toms River South and No. 6 Hammonton this week.

Delsea will play No. 1 Mainland for the South Jersey title Monday at 4 p.m.
