Ocean City-Upper Township Wins Opening Game at Little League State Tournament

Ocean City-Upper Township is the first little league team from Cape May County to compete in the state tournament since 1957, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

Joe Gallagher had three RBIs to lead the Ocean City-Upper Township 11-12 year old Little League baseball team to a win in its opening round game in the state championship tournament Wednesday night, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

The team beat Somerset Hills, 9-4, and will Toms River on Friday night. The tournament concludes on Sunday. The winner advances to the East Regional for a shot at going to the Little League World Series.

This is the first team to compete in the state tournament since 1957, according to the report.

Ocean City-Upper Township advanced to the state tournament by winning the Section 4 title after capturing the District 16 championship.
