Ocean City's Luke Demore Claims No. 1 Seed Heading Into District 32 Wrestling Tournament

He's No. 1 at 170, while Cooper Gallagher is No. 2 at 182. The tournament begins Friday night at Absegami.

Ocean City High School junior Luke Demore enters the District 32 wrestling tournament with a distinct advantage. He’s the No. 1 overall seed in his weight class.

Demore is the No. 1 seed in the 170-pound weight class, according to matchups posted by The Press of Atlantic City Thursday night.

Demore is 26-5 this season and will face the winner of the first round matchup between No. 8 Ty Coffey of Mainland and No. 9 Richie Kreischer of Oakcrest.

St. Augustine’s Jose Tabora is the No. 2 seed and James Bower of Egg Harbor Township is No. 3.

The top three finishers in each weight class advance to the Region 8 tournament, which takes place next week. The ultimate goal is a spot in the State Championship Tournament in Atlantic City in two weeks.

Cooper Gallagher begins his quest at 182 from a top-3 position, claiming the No. 2 seed. Gallagher, who is 30-1 this year, will face the winner of the first round contest between No. 6 Renzo Notch of Lower Cape May and No. 7 Juan Tinoco of Buena.

To claim the district title, Gallagher would likely have to get by No. 1 seeded James Bennett of St. Augustine. Eric Wollerman of Egg Harbor Township is the No. 3 seed.
