Ocean City Resident, OCHS Graduates to Race in Boston Marathon

Tara Mousaw, of Marmora, and Scott Flicker, a South Carolina resident, will participate in the 118th annual event. Joseph Dibartolomeo, who participated in last year's event, returns this year.

An Ocean City resident who ran in last year's Boston Marathon will be back this year.

Joseph Dibartolomeo, 55, of Ocean City, will run in the 118th annual event, set for Monday, according to the Boston Marathon's official website.

Dibartolomeo was one of two Ocean City residents who ran in last year's event, which was marred by two explosions at the finish line that injured about 140 runners.

He finished the race in 4:01.00.

A pair of Ocean City High School graduates will also run in this year's Boston Marathon, the Ocean City Sentinel reports.

Tara Mousaw, of Marmora, and Scott Flicker, a South Carolina resident, will participate in the event.

Flicker ran track and field and cross country in high school. Mousaw's parents both ran in marathons, and she is following in their footsteps, according to the report.

On Tuesday night, a man was arrested and charged with planting a hoax device after two backpacks were found near the finish line following a tribute marking the one-year anniversary of the tragedy.

Established in 1897, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest marathon and features professional and amateur runners from all over the world.

The race begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
