Beyond the Air Shows: A Weekend of Events

The weekend lineup includes a surf fishing tournament and an Ocean City Pops concert.

The highlight the weekend's visitor events. Ocean City High School's all-classes reunion — — takes place over the course of four days. And a goes off at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Thursday, Sept. 13

TED TALK at the , 17th Street and Simpson Ave., "What Makes Life Worth Living" with Mihaly Czikszentmihalyi, a leading researcher in positive psychology. The talk is heard via DVD in the Library's Main Lecture Room at 11 a.m. The world renowned speaker has contributed pioneering work in our understanding of happiness, creativity and human fulfillment. Saturday, Sept. 15

The 45th annual SURF FISHING TOURNAMENT begins with registration 5 to 6 a.m. at the , 18th Street and Bay Avenue. Competition is 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., $10 for individuals, $60 for six-member teams. Lunch served and trophies awarded at the school. Call (609) 398-0534.

5th annual MUSIC FOR THE HEART: A night of song and dance to benefit the American Heart Association. Come see the stars of tomorrow making a difference today, 6 p.m. at the Music Pier. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets $10 at door. Call (609) 653-4677 for information.

 

Sunday, Sept. 16

The Ocean City Pops orchestra features the classics.  Highlights include Brahms Double Concerto with Ellen dePasquale and Mirjam Ingolfssohn. The Pops plays a varied selection of music featuring wildlife themes at the , 6th and Atlantic Ave., 7:30 p.m., tickets $15. Box Office open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Music Pier and 6 to 8 p.m. at High School.
