But it’s the individual stories that make for a memorable year, and Ocean City had no shortage in 2011.

The high school became a training ground for both and , while a competed for glory. Guys strutted their stuff at the , while students contributed to causes for , and local . An Ocean City student sang his heart out for the contest and Jimmy Handshaw showed why is cause for celebration.

On the administrative side, school budget season was relatively quiet this year, with voters and re-electing incumbent school board members. The district opened its doors through the , attracting and prompting the board to . The intermediate school got a after Pamela Vaughan .

The district also mourned two losses this year. Longtime music teacher succumbed to cancer while school board member died after collapsing at a meeting.
