Ocean City Sews Smiles for Dominican Republic
Ocean City High School students sewed sundresses from pillowcases, and some of their work landed in the Caribbean.
Students in Barbara Daniel's World Cultures and Rubina Dombrosky's International Crafts classes at Ocean City High School came together in March in an old-fashioned sewing circle to create sundresses for students in need. They didn't use just any fabric — students created dresses out of pillowcases donated by the public, and they didn't waste a scrap.
Some of their work was delivered to the Dominican Republic earlier in April during an annual mission organized by members of St. Peter's United Methodist Church. The photo gallery above is by Ocean City's Val Oliva.
At Ocean City High School every year, the two classes get together to promote good will, and the sewing project seemed to fit right in. Read more about their work.
