Ocean City BOE to Interview Candidates for Vacant Seat Wednesday Night

Five candidates will be interviewed at a special meeting at 5 p.m.

The Ocean City Board of Education will interview five candidates for the vacant school board seat during a special meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday at the high school.

That meeting will be followed by the regular Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m.

The candidates scheduled to be interviewed are Dale Braun Jr., Michael James, David Powell, Gregory Whelan and Edmund Wisham Jr., according to the Ocean City Gazette.

All five candidates will be asked the same questions, according to the report.

The seat became available after former Board Member Peter Madden was elected to City Council during the spring elections. He was sworn in to his new position on July 1.

The Board decided at its May 28 meeting to appoint Madden's replacement after July 16. This allows replacement will serve until January of 2016, giving that person an 18-month term.
