The Ocean City School District hosts a Stand for the Silent event Thursday night at the high school's Hughes Performing Arts Center, 7 p.m.

Stand for the Silent is a traveling anti-bullying campaign started in 2010 by students at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City Upward Bound Chapter, according to the group's website.

The group was inspired by an 11-year-old who took his own life when he was suspended from school for retaliating against a bully.

The Ocean City American Sign Language club recently made an anti-bullying music video, attached to this post, that Stand for the Silent has posted to its website.

Thursday night's event is free and open to anyone. It is most appropriate for ages 13 and up, and the school district encourages families to attend the event together.
