Ocean City High School Golfer to Play for Nationally Ranked College Team

Dominic DiGiacomo signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Owens Community College.

An Ocean City High School senior who’s broken records and taking first place in a pair of prestigious golf tournaments will play for a team that was nationally ranked last fall and spring, the Owens Community College Express golf program announced on Thursday.

Dominic DiGiacomo signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Owens Community College, according to a press release issued by the college.

DiGiacomo was a First Team all-Cape Atlantic League player as a junior. He finished second out of 220 players in the Carl Arena Golf Tournament, shooting a 75. He also shot a 75 to tie for second place at the Garden State Cup. There were 105 participants in that tournament.

He also won the Junior Golf of America (JGA) Tour of Atlantic City by shooting two rounds of 80. He won the JGA Tour at Greate Bay Country Club with a 73, and finished third in the SJGA at Woodcrest Country Club.

He won the 2013 Optimist International Qualifier at Greate Bay to qualify for the 2013 Optimist International Championship in Palm Beach Gardens. While there, he shot rounds of 87, 75 and 78.

He lettered on the varsity golf team all three years. As a freshman, he shot a 75 to place third in the Garden State Cup.

He has a 3.42 grade point average (GPA).

Owens finished the fall season ranked No. 1 last year. In the spring, they finished 10th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) D-II National Tournament.
