The approval gives families the green light to send their children to Ocean City High School without using the School Choice Program.

Longport high school students have long attended Atlantic City High School. That may still be an option.

Fun alfloat - Give what time? We are continually scammed over and over again and it has been going on for decades. They pay the super more than the chief justice of the US Supreme Court and they tell us that will somehow improve the schools. I suspect the schools would be just about the same if we paid a super a reasonable salary. The facts are many more families have moved out over the past decade than have moved in and while there is nothing wrong with building a new school the people go completely overboard like all the other projects in town.

OcnjOC when was the last time you owned a home in another town in NJ where the schools were poor and all your neighbors paid for private school...and oh yeah...the taxes were 2.5 times what they are in Ocean City?. I was not defending the supers salary or anyone else's salary. I was merely stating that as someone who recently moved here I did so because OC has a good formula for great schools, excellent services, and low taxes. I love living here. My kids love the schools and my husband and I remark often how happy we are to be here full time. My son tells me quite a few of his mainland friends wished they lived on the island and they love coming over the bridge for school. Higher property values than most surrounding areas, LOWER TAXES, and good schools are nothing to complain about!

Fun aflot, I don't understand what you are arguing. A HS at half the cost could have been built and a super could be paid a normal salary and everything would be just fine. The taxes are not low at all because you have to take into account the property value and the fact that most people are not here most of the time. If you think the taxes are lower by comparing a completely different situation, such as the tax rate of properties on the mainland, then you have no idea what you are talking about. compare the taxes to shore properties in other States.
