Help Ocean City Drive Safely and Win Kelly Clarkson Concert

Make an online commitment to avoid distracted driving to help Ocean City High School win a national contest.

Ocean City students are asking members of the community for a little promise: Keep two eyes on the road and two hands on the wheel when driving.

In fact, the students are asking individuals to make that promise once a day for a week as part of an online contest.

The more "commitments" Ocean City collects, the more likely it is the school could win $100,000 and possible concert by Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson.

The contest is sponsored locally by Ocean City High School and the Ocean City Police Department and nationally by State Farm Insurance. It's designed to create awareness of the deadly possibilities of distracted driving. Text-messaging, talking on cell phones and other distractions while driving are increasingly common causes of fatal accidents.

"Our school is committed to keeping you safe on the road, and that’s why we’re participating in Celebrate My Drive, a program that’s all about celebrating the fun of getting your driver’s license while helping you drive safely so you arrive safely," the school writes in its promotion of the contest. "Remember, 2N2: two eyes on the road, two hands on the wheel."
