Guest Readers Help Primary School Celebrate 'Read Across America Day'

Military veterans, police officers, city officials and a host of other community leaders went back to school on Friday.

The adults were invited to help Ocean City schools celebrate Read Across America Day, a National Education Association event designed to encourage children to read. The event is held every year on March 2, the birthday of chidren's author Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel).

Since reading in bed is a natural, Ocean City Primary School students wore pajamas to school as they gathered in groups to sit and listen to their guest readers.

Among the community volunteers were the Friends of the Ocean City Library, Mayor Jay Gillian, Superintendent of Schools Kathleen Taylor, Commander of American Legion Post 524 Bob Marzulli, Ocean City Police Patrolmen Joshua Clark and Michael Gray and a host of others.
