Junior Raiders Win Over Linwood Panthers

In a dominating team effort, the Ocean City Junior Raiders Peewee defeated the Linwood Panthers 21-0 in a first round playoff game in the Atlantic County Youth Football League held at a neutral site in Buena, NJ.  Although it may be cliche, the team certainly turned up its intensity for the game and came to play.

The Junior Raiders went up 14-0 at the half led by touchdown runs by Sean Mazitelli on a quarterback sneak and Jacob Wilson on a short run.  Extra points were added by Zach Mazitelli and Sean Mazitelli.  Wilson also added a game-changing run in the first half by converting on fourth and long when he would not be denied and kept his legs churning for a long gain after appearing initially stopped at the line of scrimmage.  The team added a late second half touchdown by Zach Mazzitelli with the extra point by Jacob Wilson.  The coaches noted that the offensive line fired off and held their blocks throughout the game opening holes for the running backs.

The defense turned in a stellar performance, holding Linwood without a first down and causing several turnovers.  The defense demonstrated excellent fundamentals and form tackling throughout the game, which thrilled the coaches.  In particular, the defense was led by Jacob Wilson and Nasir Kelly.

The win was a true team effort, with the coaches able to get all players on the team into the game to experience a playoff victory.

Next up for the Peewee team is a second round game next weekend against Mays Landing at a neutral field in Hammonton.
