The Ocean City Junior Raiders squared off against the Absecon Blue Devils on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Carey Stadium in Ocean City, NJ.

The Taxi squad (kindergarten through 2nd grade) opened up the action. While no official score is kept at this level, the team played hard and the game was competitive. Coach Frank Rubba was pleased, noting that the team gave tremendous effort.

The Peewee team (grades 3-4) fell 28-26 in a hard fought game marked by big plays.  Coach Jim Cupit noted that it was an excellent game played by all.  After falling behind 21-6 in the second quarter, the team scored two touchdowns late in the half on back to back plays to tighten the game to 21-19 at the half.  After scoring a touchdown, Nasir Kelly, who had a monster game on both sides of the ball, then stripped the ball away from the kickoff returner to set up another score with seconds left in the half.  On the opening drive of the second half, the Junior Raiders faced a 4th and 17 in which Kelly ran around the right side for an apparent long run and first down only to have the play called back on a penalty.  After falling behind 28-19, the team added a late touchdown, but was unsuccessful in recovering the ensuing onside kick.  Overall, it was a great team effort in a losing battle in which Coach Cupit noted that all kids on the team worked hard in practice leading up to the game and never got down when they fell behind.

The JV team lost 27-7.  After falling behind 20-0 in the first half, the JV squad bounced back, fought hard in the second half, eventually scoring on a 30 yard touchdown run by Brady Rauner.
