Report: May 20 Vote to Reimburse City for Sandy Repairs

The Ocean City Housing Authority will decide on May 20 about refunding the city $1.2 million for repairs following Superstorm Sandy, ocnjdaily.com reports.

The emergency repairs helped residents of low-income residences to return to their homes at Pecks Beach Village. The Ocean City Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will consider a series of resolutions at its meeting May 20 at Bayview Manor, 7 p.m., according to the report.

The city used an affordable housing fund and hired local contractors. It had no obligation to do so, but Mayor Jay Gillian saw growing frustration among residents and the slow pace of work and decided the city should help, according to the report.

All Pecks Beach Village residents were able to return to their homes in February, 2013, four months after the storm.
