Public Invited to Open Space Forum on Saturday

The Ocean City Environmental Commission seeks input on open space and recreation needs.

The Ocean City Environmental Commission is developing a plan that will guide future open space acquisition and usage in the city, and the group is looking for public input.

The Commission invites everybody to an informal presentation and public comment session with light refreshments 1 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 14) at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center within the Ocean City Community Center at 18th Street and Simpson Avenue.

Gathered data will be used to compile an Open Space and Recreation Plan and to apply for grants.

Anybody who cannot attend on Dec. 14, can access the presentation and complete a survey:

  • Online at http://www.ocnj.us/OpenSpace/
  • By completing a hard copy of the survey available at the reception desk at City Hall, 861 Asbury Avenue, Monday through Friday 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For more information, call 609-525-9285.

Yeah, the guy who runs the commission can use tax dollars to set up buys for his Dad so they can become rich off the taxpayers. Sounds like a plan. You can also throw a pizza party and ask people what free stuff they want and you call it a "focus group."

You know you have a point there. We received open space funds for what will eventually be a parking lot for the 2nd Street Marina. I think it would be good if we obtain open space funds and use it to revert areas of town that frequently flood to open space. We had the opportunity to do that where there was abandoned commercial property but it was rezoned and redeveloped for residential instead.

And I don't mean parking lots.
