No Presidential Drama, but Tuesday's Primary Election Goes On

Voters on June 5 will decide party candidates for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Ocean City's votes in Tuesday's Republican presidential primary will have little consequence.

Mitt Romney sealed the Republican nomination on May 29 with a victory in the Texas primary. But the ballot in the June 5 primary election does include contested races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday (June 5) for the primary election.

The primary also includes uncontested races for Cape May County surrogate, the Cape May County Board of Freeholders and the Cape May County Republican Committee. And despite the fact that Romney has clinched the Republican nomination for president, the ballot does still include Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum.

The three Republican candidates for U.S. Senate are vying to challenge incumbent Democrat Robert Menendez, who was appointed to fill the seat vacated when Jon Corzine became New Jersey governor. Menendez was elected to a full six-year term in 2006.

U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo is running for this 10th term representing the 2nd Congressional District. The Republican faces one challenger from his own party in Tuesday's election. Three Democrats are competing to run against him.
