Planning Board Approves Proposal For Single Family Homes on 13th Street and Haven Avenue

The proposal now goes before the county clerk.

The Planning Board unanimously approved a proposed plan to place 18 single family homes for 13th Street and Haven Avenue this week, Shore News Today reports.

The property is currently home to storage buildings and a car wash, but Costeria Cottages, LLC was seeking to place homes on the 42,550 square-foot property, according to the report.

The company was looking to subdivide eight lots into 18 lots, according to the report. The subdivision plans must now be filed with the county clerk.

While the idea behind the coastal cottages when introduced in June was for affordable housing, no final decision on the cost of each home has been made, according to the report.

Has any consideration been given to parking for these properties? Seems to be cramming toooo much in tooo little space. This causes more parking problems than we already have. The parking from West Ave uses that area as an overflow for businesses and beach goers.

There are two off street parking spots for each 2 1/2 story home, but one of them is a one car garage that will be blocked by the exterior parking spot. So in effect there is one parking spot. Although they went to great pains to explain the grading that will help funnel water off the development, the truth is that section suffers periodic street flooding. To move the water to the street does nothing to move it from the street. So flooding will be a problem too.
