Ocean City Takes Active Step in Battle Against Bamboo

The Shade Tree Commission drafted a resolution to be considered by City Council, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

The battle an Ocean City resident is having with bamboo control has prompted a Shade Tree Committee resolution to be considered by City Council next month, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

If passed, Ocean City would become the second municipality in southern New Jersey to have such legislation on the books. The other is Gloucester Township.

Retired elementary school teacher Phebe Dickson appeared before City Council earlier this year to speak on the issue. She claimed her home was being invaded by bamboo from a neighbor's yard.

The Shade Tree Commission studied Gloucester Township's ordinance in drafting their resolution, according to the report.
