Ocean City Receives $172,000 in State Aid for Paving Projects

The aid will go to paving on 31st, 32nd and 33rd streets from Bay Avenue to West.

Ocean City will receive $172,000 in state aid toward paving during Phase 1 of the Fall Road Improvement Program.

The aid will be applied to 31st, 32nd and 33rd streets from Bay Avenue to West Avenue.

The program calls for the paving of Simpson Avenue from 33rd to 31st and paving for 31st, 32nd and 33rd between Simpson and Bay, as well as paving in several alleys.

The projected completion date for the project is spring of 2015.

The state announced distribution of the grants Tuesday morning. A total of 391 municipal aid grants totaling $81.6 million were distributed to municipalities throughout the state for the advancement of a variety of transportation projects without burdening the taxpayer.

A total of 6 percent of the 377 successful applicants were awarded grants for non-traditional projects involving pedestrian safety, bikeways and streetscape projects.
