O.C. Needs You: City Boards Seek Volunteers

The city has vacancies on the Zoning Board, Shade Tree Committee and Utility Advisory Commission.

Ocean City is seeking citizens to serve on three different boards and commissions.

Descriptions of the volunteer positions follow. Anyone interested in serving must complete a Citizen Leadership Form and submit it to City Clerk Linda MacIntyre by email at lmacintyre@ocnj.us or by mail at: City Clerk, 861 Asbury Ave., Ocean City, NJ  08226. Deadline is June 1.

Shade Tree Committee

Purpose: The Shade Tree Committee is involved with the regulation, planting, planning and care of shade and ornamental trees and shrubbery on any public street, park or property in Ocean City.

Meetings: Once a month on Wednesdays at 9 a.m.

 

Utility Advisory Commission

Purpose: To interact and communicate with utility organizations, including but not limited to electric, gas, water, sewer and television cable companies and municipal utility authorities who provide service to the citizens and residents of the city for the purposes of advising the City Council of issues of public importance concerning rate schedules, service and other related issues.

Meetings: 9 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in City Hall Council Chambers.

 

Zoning Board of Adjustment

Purpose: In accordance with the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law, the Zoning Board of Adjustment is responsible for hearing appeals from decisions of an administrative official related to development applications and hearing applications for relief from provisions of the local zoning ordinance.

Meetings: Third and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m.
