All tax payments for the current quarter are due May 12, the Ocean City Tax Collector reminds residents.

Postmarks are not accepted in accordance with state tax laws, meaning payments must be received by May 12 since the 10th day of the grace period is on a Saturday.

Taxes can be paid online by visiting www.ocnj.us/tax.

If you are using the bill pay feature with your bank, please allow sufficient time, 7-10 days for your payment to reach the city. The tax collection web site is sent directly to the city’s bank account, while using the bill pay feature of your own bank will require a check to be sent to the tax collection office.

The Tax Collection office is located at 861 Asbury Avenue and office hours are 8:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The phone number is 609-525-9379.

The average property tax bill in Ocean City is $5000 a year, despite the fact that 80% of people don't live here. Imagine how high taxes would be if Ocean City were a year round town (possible 4 to 5 times as much). We need a new model for local government.
