Dear Friends:

Unbelievable as it may seem, the holiday season is already upon us. City Hall, the Music Pier, Route 52 Welcome Center and the Downtown are adorned with new holiday lights and decorations, and the finishing touches are being put on the newly decorated 34th Street Welcome Center.
The festivities begin this weekend on Saturday at 8am with Ocean City’s own “Earlier than the Bird” shopping event. Where else can you shop in your pajamas, get free coffee, pre-holiday discounts and a chance to win downtown shopping gift certificates?!

Our “Miracle on Asbury Avenue” takes place on Friday, November 29 from 2pm to 5pm. You and your family can enjoy an old-fashioned Downtown Christmas that includes caroling, free horse and carriage rides, photos with Santa, merchant specials and the City Hall Tree Lighting along with the arrival of Santa at 5pm.
I hope you and your family will start a new holiday tradition this year (or continue an old one) and help support our local businesses by celebrating the season in Ocean City.
Next week I hope to see you at the annual Community Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 26th sponsored by the Ocean City Ecumenical Council 7pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 7th and Wesley Avenue. Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring a contribution of non-perishable food for the Ocean City Food Cupboard.
Lastly, I’d like to congratulate the Ocean City High School Girls Field Hockey, Cross Country and Boys Soccer teams on their recent accolades and achievements. We are very proud of all of the athletes and coaches!
Have a great weekend.
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
