Dear Friends:

City Council recently awarded contracts for the following improvements:

  1.  The replacement of two more bay front bulkheads.  The locations are 7th Street and Landing Road.  The Landing Road replacement is in advance of a major road paving project in the Gardens currently being designed.  This brings the total number of bulkheads replaced this year to nine.  This is by far the most improvements of this kind undertaken in any one year.
  2. Second Street drainage improvements including enlarging the capacity of the beach outfall.  The City recently received the required permits for this work, which we had been awaiting for quite some time.  The project will improve the rate of storm water drainage on  2nd Street, Pennlyn Place and St. Charles Place.
  3. The painting and water proofing of the exterior of the Music Pier.

Currently work is continuing on road and drainage improvement projects along 7th Street, 8th Street and Asbury Avenue from 39th to 42nd Streets.

The repaving of the city parking lot in the 800 block of Central is just about complete.

The reconstruction of the ground floor of City Hall is on schedule with an anticipated completion date of March 1st.

I appreciate the City Council’s continued support of our aggressive capital improvement plan.

A reminder that City Offices will be closed on Monday,  November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day.  Please join us in a community gathering at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 11 am on Monday to honor all of those who served our country in the armed forces.

Have a great weekend.

Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
