Dear Friends:

Happy New Year!

As I write this, city crews continue to plow and treat roads throughout the island.  Their efforts are challenging with this storm because the extreme cold temperatures create a hard packed snow/ice that even heavy salting cannot melt.  The tidal flooding we experienced in some areas of town has created more challenges.  If you have to drive, I urge you to use extreme caution as we continue the cleanup over the next few days.

It was with great sadness that I learned of our Library Director Chris Maloney’s passing earlier this week.  This is a great loss for the library and the entire community. The library and its programs add so much to our quality of life in Ocean City and the professionalism and dedication of Chris made it one of the finest such facilities in the state.

Michele’s and my thoughts and prayers are with Chris’ family and all of his co-workers at this difficult time.

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
