Dear Friends:

Last evening, the administration presented our recommended Five Year Capital Improvement Plan to the City Council.

The plan provides a comprehensive approach to improve the City’s infrastructure with approximately $10 million dollars in funding each year, with half of that directed at much needed road and drainage repairs.  This level of funding will enable us to make visible and significant improvements to many areas of the island.

The entire plan can be reviewed at www.ocnj.us/Capital-Projects/.

The demolition of the 500 block of the boardwalk began this week.  Walkers, runners and bike riders will have to take a slight detour through the adjacent parking lot until construction of the new boardwalk is complete in the spring.  Heavy equipment will be in the area so please use caution and do not enter the work zone.

Last week I reported to you that we had received word that the beach replenishment and dune building project for the south end of Ocean City could begin construction in the spring.  Yesterday the Governor and the Army Corps of Engineers announced more specific details including the fact that the project will begin in March.

In the meantime be assured that we will continue to closely monitor the entire beachfront and take any necessary measures to protect property prior to the beach replenishment project.

Have a great weekend.

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
