John Quinn to Run for City Council in Second Ward

Quinn will face Antwan McClellan in the May 8 election.

Former Zoning Board Chairman John Quinn will run to represent the Second Ward on City Council.

Quinn will face Board of Education member Antwan McClellan in the May 8 election to represent citizens who live between Fourth and 12th streets in Ocean City.

Quinn outlined a six-point platform for his candidacy:

  • To control and reduce costs to lower taxes
  • To legislate fair and equitable zoning laws
  • To regulate development
  • To enhance a year-round downtown business district
  • To improve drainage on Ocean City streets
  • To improve infrastructure

He said he is uniquely qualified to control costs and manage finances because he has a strong background in corporate finance.

Quinn is a retired controller and CFO of a Coca-Cola bottling facility in the Philadelphia area. He has also worked for General Electric and Campbell's Soup.

Quinn completed 10 years as a member and chairman of the Ocean City Zoning Board on Dec. 31. He is also a former president of the Ocean City Board of Education.

He currently serves as treasurer of the Masonic Club, Foster Carney Foundation and Atlantic County Shrine Club. He is the finance officer for American Legion Post 524 in Ocean City.

Quinn said because he is retired, he is both able and willing to commit the time necessary to represent the Second Ward.
