Five Things on Tonight's City Council Agenda

Among other items, City Council will consider an ordinance that waives beach tag fees for members of the military.

City Council breaks from its normal biweekly Thursday schedule and meets tonight on a Tuesday (7 p.m. Oct. 25). Here are five things on the that may be of interest to the public.

1. Council will cast a final vote on an ordinance change to waive beach tag fees to active members of the military and National Guard and their immediate families. A recent change in state law allows the exemption.

2. City Council will cast a final vote on a bond ordinance appropriating $3 million and authorizing $2.9 million in borrowing for capital projects. Scheduled projects (subject to separate approval) include dredging plans for the bay, continued road and drainage improvements and repairs to the historic Life Saving Station at Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue.

3. City Council will consider the first reading of two new ordinances related to a new development fee and to revised guidelines for peddlers, hawkers and vendors.

4. City Council will get a first glimpse of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce's redesigned website (oceancityvacation.com). The new site could be unveiled to the public as early as Wednesday (Oct. 26).

5. City Council will vote on a resolution that sets forth new standing rules for the way meetings are conducted. The suggested guidelines include time limits for how long council members can speak on any issue.
