Five Things to Know About City Council's Thursday Agenda

City Council has a full agenda (see attached PDF) for its public meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall. But here are five things that might be of special interest:

• The meeting will open with a public presentation on the city's Master Plan. The Ocean City Planning Board is in the final stages of recommending updates to the document, which guides zoning and land-use decisions.
• The meeting will end with a closed executive session for City Council members to discuss seven lawsuits against the city, including those with the following plaintiffs: Edwin Yust, Oliver Muzslay, "Petrozzi, et. als.," Myers Trustees, Jeffrey Moyer, Robert Petnick and Monica Raab. City Council cannot make public any details on discussions of pending litigation, but governing bodies are sometimes called together to discuss potential settlements.
• City Council will vote on the first reading of an amended ordinance governing irrigation systems in town (see attached PDF for detail).
• City Council will vote on the first reading of an ordinance that appropriates $165,000 to tear down the Bellevue Hotel. The city hopes to take the money from an existing fund for capital projects, then replenish the fund if and when the city recovers the money from a lien on the property.
• City Council will vote to support the nomination of U.S. Life Saving Station 30 at Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue to the National Register of Historic Places.
