Five Things to Know About City Council's Thursday Agenda

A marina contract and firefighters' labor contract and two new members of the Ethics Board are part of the June 28 agenda.

City Council has a full agenda (see attached PDF) for its public meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at , but here are five things that might be of special interest.

The meeting will be the final one for departing City Council members John Kemenosh (First Ward), Karen Bergman (Second Ward) and Roy Wagner (Fourth Ward). Three new council members — Michael DeVlieger (First Ward), Antwan McClellan (Second Ward) and Pete Guinosso (Fourth Ward) — will be sworn in at a reorganization meeting 1 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at the .

  • City Council will vote on a resolution to award a contract and authorize a rental and management agreement with a private company at Second Street and Bay Avenue. (.) 
  • City Council will vote on a resolution authorizing a new three-year labor contract with Ocean City firefighters. (We'll post a copy of the collective bargaining agreement when our records request is fulfilled.) The city recent agreed to a .
  • City Council will consider the second and potentially final reading of an amended ordinance that puts on the books three new traffic lights at intersections on Central and West Avenues and new parking meters on the 800 block of Central Avenue across from the Ocean City Police Department. Mayor Jay Gillian said the parking meters were added to give downtown shoppers more parking spaces and that they replace spots formerly marked as "city vehicles only." 
  • City Council will consider the second and potentially final reading of an amended ordinance that adds parking meters (25 cents for 15 minutes) in effect 5 p.m. to midnight near the U.S. Post Office on Ocean Avenue. 
  • City Council will vote to appoint Frank Worrell and Donald Mullen to fill out the Ethics Board.
