Final Results Show No Change in School Board Election

Official results for the Nov. 6 general election are now posted on the Cape May County Clerk's website.

The only local races on the ballot were for seats on the Ocean City Board of Education, and the final results — which include provisional and mail-in ballots — do not change the outcome of election-night results.

Ocean City voters returned two incumbents to the school board and picked one newcomer.

Jim Bauer won his seventh three-year term on the board, and Tom Oves was re-elected for his second. Jacqueline McAlister finished second in voting to win her first term.

Voters picked from four candidates to fill three full three-year terms on the board. The final vote count is as follows:

Peter V. Madden: 2,580

Tiffany Prettyman ran unopposed to complete the final two years of Antwan McClellan's unexpired term. She received 3,882 votes. McClellan stepped down from the board when he was elected to City Council.

In Ocean City, 6,657 of the municipality's 9,272 registered voters (71.9 percent) cast ballots in the election.

Ocean City voters supported Republican candidates in the general election, favoring unsuccessful presidential (Mitt Romney) and senatorial (Joe Kyrillos) candidates and successful Congressional (Frank LoBiondo), county surrogate (Susan Sheppard) and county freeholder (Len Desiderio) candidates.
