City Council Returns to City Hall Thursday Night

City hall was damaged during Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

For the first time since Superstorm Sandy, Ocean City Council meets in city hall Thursday night.

City hall was damaged during the storm in October, 2012, and council approved a reconstruction plan in August. The agenda posted on Tuesday lists the site of Thursday's meeting as City Council Chambers at 861 Asbury Avenue.

The reconstruction allowed the offices of the Tax Collector, Tax Assessor and City Clerk to return to the ground floor in a different configuration, and allows for enlarged public bathrooms.

The reconstruction project cost about $1.2 million and is nearly complete.

When council convenes Thursday night, there will be a public hearing on the municipal budget.
